How Solar Water Heating Systems Work
1. Solar Water Panels
Cold water is pumped thru pipes in the solar water panels mounted on-top of your roof and is in turn heated from the sun.
2. Storage Tank
The hot water from the solar panels is fed down to the storage tank. This Tank stores the hot water and sends up fresh cold water to be heated.
3. Controller Thermostat
The Thermostat senses when the water in the solar panels is hotter than the water in the tank. This controller will then turn on the pump circulating the water thru the panels. The Thermostat keeps your system running as efficiently as possible by turning off the pump at night when your solar panels are cold, or when a cloud moves overhead.
4. Heating Element
In the event that there is no sunshine for a long period of time, the solar tank is equipped with a device inside the tank for heating the water electrically.
